the Highline - Access Point at 16th Street

This project re-envisions the 16th Street access point to The Highline to make the entry more welcoming, secure, and user-friendly. We inverted the rotation of the stair, and gave it a much more generous slope and improved lighting to create a demonstrably more comfortable entry experience. The look and feel is cohesive with the existing language of the Highline and yet creates a new and improved experience. Despite its small scale, this project required coordination with a dozen consultants and approvals from multiple public stakeholders including the Community Board and the NYC Department of Parks and Recreation. Anticipated completion Spring 2027
